Summer camp this year will look different for many families. The good news is there are plenty of virtual options, many free or low cost. Here are some choices to help you start planning.
Varsity Tutors has Virtual School Day AND Summer Camp! One stand-out offering is StarCourse, a series of celebrity-led classes.

Instructors include gold metal gymnast, Aly Raisman, Emmy award winner Julianne Hough, Former NFL star turned NASA astronaut Leland Melvin, and actor/PhD scientist Mayim Bialik.
Varsity Tutors also has content in more than 2,500 subjects. I am drawn to the courses under “Enrichment.” For instance, I saw a beginning origami class I may or may not sign my girls up for so that I can take it with them, :-).
There are more serious subjects, too. Think Computer Science, Creating Writing and AP Physics. I’m sure you can find something you and your children will love.
Virtual School Day right now is free.
Outschool. This one isn’t free, but there are so many low-cost options. I saw everything from your traditional math and english classes, to drawing and music lessons. There offerings for life skills, like Finance for Teens, are worth perusing.
There are one time classes, short courses, semester courses and yes, Summer classes. I found prices from $12 to $160.
Apple camp. Every year Apple camp fills quickly. I’m not sure what the camp will look like this year, but sign up here to be notified when registration opens.
Camp Flix, based in Atlanta, GA is going virtual this year. In the past they covered the language and process of filmmaking and acting. They also provided the opportunity for teams to make a short film.
I look forward to seeing how they adapt to the virtual world. They are scheduled to share information on May 15th. If you have children interested in film making, it’s worth marking your calendars to remember the date.
Happy planning! Towanda
